2023 Large Item Pickup Dates: Wednesday's: April 5th and October 11th

These are basic guidelines but are not intended to be an exhaustive list. If you have questions about the items you are seeking to dispose of, please contact our trash hauler 816-254-1470 and discuss with them.
You can set out FIVE items on the curb. These items include the following:
• Furniture
• Mattresses
• Appliances including refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and dryers. Refrigerators and freezers MUST be empty of Freon or other hazardous materials. Items containing Freon must be emptied and tagged by a licensed technician for pickup.
• Push lawn mowers with no fuel or oil
• Up to 4 foot rolls of carpet (Must be securely tied and less than 50 pounds. Two rolls count as one item.)
• Items containing Freon must be emptied and tagged by a licensed technician for pickup.
Items NOT ACCEPTED curbside include:
• Wood fencing and/or decking materials
• Glass panels larger than four feet
• Latex or oil-based paint
• Tires
• Automotive batteries, engine oil or fuel tanks
• Hazardous materials or waste
• Yard waste
• Compressed gas cylinders
• Any item that contains hazardous materials, gases, or fluids.
• Residential trash (goes with your weekly pick up)
• Concrete, asphalt, cinder blocks, or rocks
• Landscaping timber/railroad ties
• Tree branches, brush, firewood, leaves & yard waste
• Roofing materials/shingles, lumber, sheet rock, and other building materials
• Items still containing Freon, items containing a compressor, motor oil, brake fluid, gas/gas tanks, diesel fuel, pesticides, and other household hazardous waste (for assistance with these items, call the Johnson County Hazardous Waste Collection, 913-715-6900)
